MIAMI, FL – March 16, 2025 – Indigenous Whispers Inc. is launching its first major fundraising campaign to develop the technological infrastructure necessary to bring augmented reality stories along the Miami River to life.  Funding will support the creation of a series of 3D stories, a hologram and interactive exhibits that showcase Indigenous culture, language, and traditions. Indigenous Whispers Inc is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

“We’re at a pivotal moment where we need financial support to demonstrate the technology that will make these important stories come to life said, Christine Michaels, Vice President of Indigenous Whispers and cultural preservation advocate.  Through our fundraising efforts, we aim to create experiences that honor the First People of Miami in ways that are both respectful and innovative.”

The organization currently collaborates with historians, archaeologists, indigenous cultural consultants, and technology specialists as part of a broader effort to elevate the importance of the Indigenous voice in the history of Miami and the Miami River.  The unique contributions of Indigenous Whispers is technology and the elevation of the tribal voice. 

According to Judith Anderson, Present and co-founder of Indigenous Whispers, “Our initial goal is modest.  We want to raise $35,000 in three months.  This will enable us to create a pilot film with our technical partners at Bravent and demonstrate our augmented reality technology for all of Miami.”  Judith adds, “I first saw a modest version of augmented reality technology at Art Basel in 2022 and was wowed.  Indigenous Whispers bridges the future of Miami as a tech hub, with the gifts of the Indigenous heritage of Miami past and present to celebrate values like resilience, community and nature in 3D.”
